You have better things to do with yourself than keep track of upgrades. WordPress, our favorite blogging software, has a new major version (with lots of enhancements) available two or three times a year, and there are usually a few security improvements released in between major upgrades.
If you have plugins, the hassle is compounded. Keeping up with plugins can be a job in and of itself. We know, because we do it.

- Install new security releases within one business day of their release, keeping your blog or WordPress website as secure as possible
- Perform major version upgrades approximately one week after they are released (the delay allows plugin authors to react to any changes and update their own code, if necessary)
- Upgrade all plugins once a month to the most recent versions
- Make any necessary changes to your theme, if we created it for you
- Send you notices to let you know when we’ve upgraded you
It’s important to note the following before you sign up:
- Sometimes new versions of WordPress cause a small number of existing plugins to stop functioning. If there are plugins that are very important to you, please let us know and we will specifically check for compatibility before upgrading, and defer the upgrade if there is an issue. Otherwise, we will upgrade on the standard schedule and simply disable any misbehaving plugins, sending you a list so you know what happened.
- Very occasionally, a WordPress upgrade can cause small problems with your theme. This is very rare; most of the time, an older theme just won’t reflect newer features. For instance, when WordPress added support for tags, previously released themes just didn’t show tags. On the off-chance that a WordPress upgrade messes up your theme, we can help you fix it, but it will be billed separately if we did not create the theme. That’s because the issue is so rare that it doesn’t make sense to increase the monthly rate of the upgrade service to provide for it.

The monthly cost for our upgrade plan varies based on how many plugins you are actively using (because the more plugins you use, the longer it takes each month!). To find out how many plugins you’re using, visit your blog’s admin panel and click the “Plugins” tab or link; then count how many listed plugins have a green background and a “Deactivate” link (that means it’s currently activated).
