Once upon a time, Wendy Piersall designed a theme and asked us to code it. We did, and everyone was delighted with the results. Over time, Wendy’s blog turned into a full-blown blog network, and the theme changed. Many readers asked Wendy if she’d consider giving away the old theme, so here it is.
This theme has some great features:
- It’s built for display advertising, with an options page to add your ad code easily
Ad units included:- Medium 300×250 or Large 336×280 Rectangle at the top of the sidebar: Best for ad network ads or self-promotion (newsletter signup, your “banana” secton)
- Standard 468×60 banner units between posts on the front page and archive/search/category pages: Best for Google AdSense ads or affiliate ads, text or banners
- Medium 300×250 or Large 336×280 Rectangle between single posts and comment box: Best for AdSense Ads (Wendy’s highest CTR spot on the site)
- Excellently optimized for search engines
- Widget-ready
- Supports tags
- A handy spot to display a great motivational quote
How to use the theme
- Download the theme and unzip it on your computer
- Upload the folder emoms-legacy to your WordPress themes directory
- Go to the “Presentation” tab in your WordPress admin panel and click on the theme image (it looks like the one shown above
- Customize your sidebars in “Presentation” > “Widgets”
- Customize your ads in “Presentation” > “eMoms Theme Options”

How generous of Wendy to release this to us, I’ve always liked the clean look of her theme. Thanks!
Hi, I am using the emoms theme and am wondering what size my logo should be and where or in what files would I place it?
I will also email you through the other site where you have themes in case you do not get the email through here. thank you!
Hi, Shelby—by default, the theme doesn’t use an image logo, but if you want to add one, and you’re comfortable editing code, you could put it in the header.php file, right after the
<div id="logo">line (optionally replacing the title and description). It has an error in the archives.php, in the line 48 , you have to delete that and it will works.
I wrote an entry in spanish.
